Return to Bibi Data Bases or to the Bi Bi front page
If a database is containing many species, it is said here to be of general use. See for instance Extraction May 07 (TS extraction at the end of the page), the number of Type Strains is indicative of the resolution power or specificity.
Other databases are interesting only on a restricted spectrum of bacteria.
These bases are beginning now with ux_ and are placed after the general databases.
As a satisfying number of species are represented, the following databases are of general use !
These databases do not contain a large variety of species. They are used for certain type of bacteria only. If you are using these databases you certainly know why !
For example in the Mycobacteria case, the gyrB, sod, tuf and groEL2 (hsp65) genes databases are containing almost all the currently described species and are used for identification. In our lab we use glyA for Campylobacter identification.
The ux_ databases will be used from a special page. The main page will concern only the general databases
