A set of microbiology oriented web sites

The Quantitative Microbiology site is maintained by Jean-Pierre Flandrois (Biostatistics-Health research team, Biomathematics-Health Department, UMR 5558 CNRS-Lyon1? Biometry and Evolutive Biology see [1]) .

Simulation and Modelling

Since the late 80' the aim has been to develop biologist-friendly tools : at first expert systems for clinical microbiology (Cadi-yac, the first expert system in microbiology and Exprim have been the source of industrial expert systems), then simulations programs of growth (the first predictive microbiology system used both by industry and national regulation departments) and programs that evaluate the parameters for non linear models (this was the Superfit family of programs).

We maintain programs for simulations like Dynatica (written in Mathematica) [2] and now the web interface DynW for simulation of biological processes.

We give access also here to a web site (Rfit) for non linear estimation of models parameters [4].

Sequence-based identification in biology : BIBI

This program has been setup around year 2000. The aims of the BIBI team is to provide sequences databases adapted to the biologist need of identifying bacterial species in samples (clinical, environmental).
BIBI is the first integrated bacteria identification system based on ad hoc databases and systematic use of phylogeny [6]. BIBI is use worldwide and appears in key publications.
The new version is Bi Bi "le".
